BAFSA Membership
BAFSA welcomes applications for membership from all parts of the sprinkler industry and from those organisations which have an interest in the promotion of sprinkler protection as the most effective way of protecting life and property from the effects of fire.
BAFSA is a democratic organisation, promoting an all-inclusive approach and is the only UK trade which represents all facets of the sprinkler industry. BAFSA's funding, unlike that of some other groups, comes solely from its members and its activities are therefore solely directed to benefiting the interests of all its members.
BAFSA enjoys close links with all other stakeholders in the UK fire protection industry, in particular the National Fire Sprinkler Network (NFSN) with whom we work closely with to promote sensible changes in legislation and procedures. BAFSA is also a key part of the Fire Industry Confederation, a key player in a wide range of government sponsored and other fire sector forums.
The commercial/industrial sectors provide 99% of the revenue earned by suppliers to the UK sprinkler industry. We have the potential to influence legislation in other areas, in particular large warehouses, schools and HMOs, but we need your support if we are to realise our full potential.
It is vital that any company or individual working in the sprinkler industry in the UK should join BAFSA and participate in all its activities. It is your industry. It is only by having a strong trade association that we can influence future legislation. Only BAFSA allows all members to attend all its committee and council meetings and all members, from whatever part of the sector are entitled to become
To join complete the membership application form and return to us. When your application has been approved by our council you will be eligible to receive technical information, monthly newsletters, free copies of our publications and attend our meetings and conferences at preferential rates.
Current Installer Membership Grades are based largely on the LPCB 1048 scheme grading. Companies which are listed under the FIRAS Domestic and Residential Installer scheme are classified together with LPCB Level 1 installers. Unlisted companies installing such systems (or other fire suppression systems such as water mist protection) are classified as Associate Members and pay a lower level of subscription. It is BAFSA's policy to encourage smaller companies and those entering the market to achieve certification by a UKAS accredited certification body and BAFSA runs training courses for this purpose.
