Sprinkler Save: School, Edinburgh
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at a school in Pennywell Road which had activated the automatic fire suppression system.(AFSS)
Operations Control mobilised three appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a first floor toilet. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.
The school was closed following the fire but reopened the following day.
This incident clearly demonstrates the importance of installing AFSS in schools, London Fire Brigade (LFB) figures show there were 759 fires in London schools between 2009 and July 2017 and sprinklers were only installed in 15 of these cases… MORE
