L2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (Experienced Worker Route – On-line Learning)

L2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (Experienced Worker Route – On-line Learning)
This on-line qualification is open to fire sprinkler installers who have a verifiable 3 years experience of working as a sprinkler installer. The qualification is the same qualification as delivered in the traditional block release, day release and EWR (College Attendance required) courses.

When we say On-line ‘learning’ what we mean is ‘remote interactive learning’. What will NOT be permitted by OFQUAL Awarding Organisations is simply providing candidates with a set of slides, notes, workbook, etc, and them working through it on their own. There must be full live interaction for the duration of the course. The tutor must be able to see all candidates live and be able to communicate with them live, and two-way, ie candidates must also be able to speak. (Skype/Zoom are platforms which easily allow this kind of interaction).

Candidate Eligibility

Candidate eligibility for the EWR is now 3 years installation experience. With this qualification encompassing both Residential and Commercial Fire Sprinkler installations colleges expect the candidate to have experience in both types of systems, demonstrated within the BAFSA Evidence of prior learning record book*.

As part of the qualification evidence requirements candidates are required to complete an Evidence of Prior Learning portfolio for submission to the college. A downloadable template document is available free of charge here.

*Those installers that have not had experience in either metallic fire sprinkler systems installations or plastic fire sprinkler systems installations will be required to gain a working knowledge of installation and jointing techniques before completion of the electronic practical module/assessment through a manufacturer training opportunity or a potential one day teaching programme delivered in college at an additional cost.

Programme Duration

The learning programme consists of approx. 40 hours learning delivered online through a wide variety of learning methodologies. The learner will be able to access the learning modules and assessments in their own time and at their own pace and will be allowed 12 weeks from the time of enrolment to complete their programme. No attendance in College is required.

*Should a learner need to gain the practical skill (CPVC or Steel ) this training will be required to be completed within a 3 month period of enrolment and following completion of the online modules (with the exception of Unit 6). The course fee for this additional training day in college (if required by the learner) is expected to be approx. £170 – £200. This training will only be required for those who cannot evidence installer experience in both disciplines (CPVC/Steel). Each college to advise BAFSA of their fee. This fee will be required to be paid by the learner direct to the College. The date and time of training will be agreed between candidate and college.

Following receipt of payment candidate log in details will be provided . Please Note that this can take 5 – 7 working days.
